You will find Bessiestown Farm in a magnificent rural setting in Catlowdy, a small hamlet midway between Gretna Green and Hadrian’s Wall, just north of Carlisle and within easy driving distance of both the M6 and M74. If you are planning a holiday in this area or if you are on your way to or from Scotland, Bessiestown is ideally placed – convenient for the main routes but also set amidst idyllic countryside.

Bessiestown is only a short drive from Longtown and the M6/M74 motorways and the route is straightforward and well-signposted.

• From the south – take Junction 44 from the M6 motorway and follow the A7 to Longtown.
• From the north – take Junction 22 from the M74 and follow the A6071 to Longtown.
• Travelling east and west, follow the A6071 to Longtown.

From Longtown, take the road between the Bush Hotel and the Spar grocery store, signposted for Catlowdy. After just over 6 miles you come to a T-junction at the Bridge Inn. Take the right hand turn (B6318) for a mile and a half to Catlowdy and Bessiestown is the first drive on the left.
